This mini-story(I can't even call it a short story) takes place in a possible, though not necisarily likely event that could happen within the Twelve Houses RP. I readily admit I might not be writing other people's characters as they would. This story assumes a few events have already happened: primarily that Tarim has managed somehow to befriend the inner senshi, though is known for his overall nervousness. This story shows a fairly unsuccessful attempt to just get him to relax. At this point, he's not yet known to be a Chaon emmisary, though perhaps this event would be the beginning of his being found out.
"You're going to give him a heart attack."
"No... you are going to give him a heart attack, Nephlyte." Makoto grinned as she put the finishing touches into the hologram. "I'll be back on the side laughing at his expression."
"At seeing a Chaon in a dark ally."
"Well, yeah. We need to just get him to lose himself. You know, freak out once, and when he knows we've seen him lost like that, he'll finally relax."
"I say your logic is flawed."
Makoto tossed the amulet to Nephlyte. "I say you need to learn to relax a little, too, Nephy."
"And I told you before, don't call me Nephy." He scowled as he hung the amulet from his neck. "Remind me why I'm doing this, again?"
"Because you're bored."
"Ah. Yes. Boredom. My nemesis."
Tarim waved goodby to Minako, and turned away. He let out a held breath as he turned into an alley shaking his head. "I don't know how I'm going to manage to live through all this," he mumbled, eyes watching the ground in front of him as he walked. "I just... need to get through once and I'll be fine." He closed his eyes for a second and kept walking. Unfortunately, someone larger than he apparently stepped right in front of him
"Get through what, to where?"
Tarim's gaze snapped up at the large chaon standing in front of him. "Wha? Uhh." He took a step backwards as his eyes widened. "Who..."
"I asked you a question... boy." The chaon drew a sword from a side scabbard.
"Are you insane?! We're in the middle of the capi-" Tarim's eyes darted to the sword and back to the chaon's face. "A duel... here? Now?!"
Makoto, watching from behind a bush, frowned. This was not the reaction she was expecting. If anything, he was more calm than usual.
"And why not?" asked the chaon, running a claw along the blade's edge.
"Aren't duels kind of... illegal here?" Tarim took a step back, his right hand moving up towards his left sleeve.
"Oh, like that matters to me?" The chaon grinned, taking a ready stance with his sword.
"It does to me! I'm not ruining my entire life by getting into that kind of trouble! Leave me alone!" Tarim took another step backwards, then turned and ran out of the alleyway.
The image of the chaon vanished, leaving Nephlyte behind. He turned towards the bush that Makoto was hiding behind. "I think that went... well."
Makoto stood up and blew a bang out of her eyes. "Shut up." She walked towards the exit of the alleyway, punching Nephlyte in the arm as she passed him.
